♫ At the Costa~♫, Costa Carina~♫

If you're on a tight budget and would like to spend a night at least in a clean, comfortable room, maraming ibang lodging options sa Santa Ana na tiyak sasakto sa budget ninyo. But actually, I still cannot say na mura ang lodging sa Santa Ana because nagre-range ang room rates (good for 1 to 2 persons, puwedeng 3 kung sexy kayong lahat) between Php 1400 to Php 2000 on a low season. For more than 2 pax, around Php 2200 and up ang usual rates ng budget rooms. Medyo may kamahalan compared sa Tuguegarao City. So I would suggest na maghanda ng at least Php 2000 for an overnight lodging, especially if you're on your own. But, kung cowboy kayo at keri naman ninyo matulog sa cottages, definitely it would be cheaper. :)

In search of a budget room, na-discover ni Teh ang Costa Carina Beachfront Resort.
Welcome, welcome!
So right after leaving our things sa room, I went down to greet the sea. ^_^
A natural landscape by the sand... :)
View facing south...

Hello Palaui Island! Tomorrow, Teh will explore you! ^_^

Mula rin sa bahaging ito, abot-tanaw rin ang mala-birhen at full of mysteries and adventures na isla ng Palaui. :)

Hermit Crab: Hindi ako Crab! Shell ako Teh, sheeeell!!!
Teh: Chos, hindi nga? May shell bang gumagapang mag-isa? :P

Hehe! :D

Miss Jo, the owner of Costa Carina. ^_^
(Medyo serious siya that time, kasi may kausap siya...)

Oh and if you are wondering who runs this beautiful resort, siya ay walang iba kundi si Miss Jo. A very hands-on and hospitable entrepreneur. Thanks for the chat and fulfilling our requests, most especially the Day 2 Lunch and Day 3 Breakfast! (By the way, sorry for the stolen shot...)

Sa halagang Php 1600 per night (1-2pax, or 3-sexy pax), you will have a clean room, clean bathroom (cold shower only), and a magnificent view while dining on the table outside your room... :)
Teh's room... :)
The bathroom interior.
The drinks storage for the Bar. ^_^

Outside the room. Free use of dining table by the veranda. :)
The morning view from the veranda.
I was impressed by the very low clouds after daybreak... :)
Aside from the budget rooms, marami pang amenities ang resort na ito. They have cottages, videoke machine for rent and shared bathrooms para sa mga day tourists ng resort, function room for rent, and a tranquil bar in front of the reception desk (no noisy bands, just chat with the resort staff and Miss Jo if in need of company). :) Well, sabi ni Miss Jo, coming soon pa ang restaurant nila dahil ginagawa pa ito and she is still formulating the menu for it. But for now, they can offer breakfasts like tocilog and hotsilog and paluto, basta meron kang main ingredients. Like in our case, nagpaluto kami ng crabs (featured in the food trip post) na nabili namin mula sa friend ni Miss Jo na President ng PASAMOBA Cooperative. (Sorry, I forgot her name... >_<)
Cottage for rent! And videoke for rent at Php 150 per hour... :)

Shared bathroom. Free of use! ;)

The function hall... the nearest to the beach. ^_^
Ideal for birthdays, reunions, and other special occassions...

Always open, the Bar @ Costa Carina Beachfront! :D

Basta may request ka, Miss Jo and her staff will take care of it! ^_^

Hopefully, after reading Teh's personal lodging experience here, you will consider staying at Costa Carina Beachfront Resort... ;)

After a goodnight sleep, salubungin ang susunod na araw nang may sigla at energy para sa Island Hopping! Palaui Island and beyond, susunod na sa the Adventures of Teh! ^_^

Special thanks to Ms. Jo Taguba (Owner - 09175628476), Teh Ena (Staff-reception), Teh Trixie (Staff-reception) and Teh Arlene (Staff-chef) for our great dining and lodging experience at Costa Carina Beachfront Resort... ^_^

Sun City ~ The Elegant Rendezvous

The green, green grass of Cagayan Valley... :)
Last year, for Teh's Christmas getaway which was few months after the board exam, I was scouting for a good place to unwind. And since laging nauudlot ang pagpunta ko sa Santa Ana tuwing nagbabakasyon ako sa Ballesteros, I decided to pay this place a visit. At isa sa mga nakita ni Teh, salamat sa tourism page ng Santa Ana, ay ang resort na ito ~ ang Cagayan Holiday and Leisure Resort, also known as the Sun City. They've got a majestic aura of the lobby, the restaurants, the infinity pool, and corridors inside each building. :)
The empty lobby...

The resort's convenience store.
Also found in the reception area.

The landscape in front of the casino.

Outside The One restaurant at night... ^_^

The main highlight of this resort is the casino. (Sowwwsyahl.) If you will stay in one of their villas, you will be entitled to complementary casino vouchers. For Grand Villa lodgers, they are entitled to Php 400 worth of casino voucher per night, per villa. :D By the way, the complementary coupons are only playable sa Baccarat tables.
The wishing lion well... Rawwwrrr!!!
(Pauso ko lang, may mapag-wish-an lang gamit ang barya...)
The path that leads to happiness...
(Palabas ng casino on the right side.

And since malayo ang casino building from our villa, we were serviced by this electric car everytime na pupunta kami sa casino area. Well, hindi para magsugal, kundi para kumain. (Defensive much?) Parang Shangri-la ang peg! :)
The silent car... no vrrrooom, vrrrooom effect. :)
Clean air act compliant!
Free use of the infinity pool and for a certain fee, they offer spa, gym or watersports activities services, depende sa trip mo. (Inquire here for more info on their updated rates...) Not sure for the use of billiards if it's free, though.
Mimming time! Kaso malamig... X_X
After a long and excruciating journey to Santa Ana,
relax here at the Spa... :)
The gloomy sea...
Medyo brown din ang dagat. :(
Hahaha. K.
Instructor: 'Wag kang pupunta doon sa parteng 'yun, mababaw doon...
Teh: >keber< Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Vroooooooommm!!! ^_^

Tara bilyar tayo! :D
(Subject to availability...)
The path which leads to the sea... :)

A place to meditate... Inner peace... (Chaught.)

Only villas. Sa halagang Php 4200 (as of December 2011), may Grand Villa, which is good for 4 persons, na kayong pupuwedeng matuluyan. Php 1050 per head for a 5-star lodging? Good deal for a very clean and spacious villa which is on par with Shangri-la hotel chain standards! :)
Relax on this majestic couches like a couch potato... :D
At ang tarush! May weighing scale pa sa loob... Either pang-weigh ng check-in baggage before going to the airport or pantimbang ng sarili kung nahihiyang o hindi sa bakasyon dito.
No need to go to clinic for your
vacation weight monitoring! :)
Miss dining at home? Villas have their own dining tables. ;)

Bathroom interior - the sink area
Bathroom interior - the glass shower area
(Err, excuse me naman
for making sama the inidoro sa pic...)

To the rescue!... In case you forgot your toiletries. ;)
One of the 2 rooms. Definitely longing for these comfy beds matapos ang malayong biyahe... ^_^
And for that, there are 3 restaurants on your aide. Very clean and very aristocratic ang setting ng bawat restaurant. :)
Craving for western dishes? Visit the Edge Restaurant!

Always open, the Bar. :)
(Another Bar also open near casino...)

Welcome to the One! :)
The One Restaurant ~ non-VIP tables

The One Restaurant ~ VIP room

If you're not on a very tight budget, staying in this resort is highly recommended. Besides, this is the nearest hotel, as mentioned by their local tourism page admin, to Anguib Beach and Palaui Island. At kung tatapat ng sobrang maulan na weather ang stay ninyo sa Santa Ana, perfect mag-stay rito dahil within the resort, marami ka nang magagawa. :)

However, recently their lodging prices for each type of villa has increased by around 20~25%. As of July 2012, the Sun City resort announce these new rates on their Facebook page:

  • Deluxe Oceanfront (5 bedrooms good for 10pax) P22,800.00
  • Superior Villa (3 bedrooms good for 6pax) P10,500.00
  • Grand Villa (2 bedrooms good for 4pax) P6,200.00

Visiting Santa Ana but on a tight budget? Next on Teh's queue ~ featuring one of the budget resorts in Santa Ana, the Costa Carina Beachfront Resort! Stay tuned... ;)

Special thanks to My Santa Ana tourism and Cagayan Holiday and Leisure Resort Facebook pages for supplying information required to complete this post. ^_^

Eat, Sleep, Bum ~ Dive Link Coron

Then another 10-minute boat ride from the wharf to the resort.
The wharf and the parked boats.
Salamat kuyang bangkero. :)
Halfway there...
Almost there...

Here na... finally! ^_^

~ The Amenities ~

1. Free use of Service Boat going to and from Coron Wharf
Una, subject to availability ng boats. And pangalawa, libre lamang ang Service Boat kapag pupunta o magpapasundo mula sa wharf between 7AM to 7PM. Beyond that time range, they charge Php 100 per head, per ride. :)
Docking Area A. Dito kami madalas sunduin ng touring boat. :)

2. Welcome Drinks and Souvenir
They treat each and every guest as a VIP as well sa pamamagitan ng pagsabit ng kwintas made out of shells. Looks very nice at may heart pang kasama. :) Aside from that, ang bawat guest ay makatatanggap din ng free juice drink as part of their warm welcome. 11:30 AM kasi kami dumating at 12NN ang check-out time kaya normal lamang iyon. Napagtanto ko by then na we made the right choice. :)
Welcome orange drink for Teh.
The Welcome Necklace Souvenir for Teh.

3. Parts of the Resort (parang elementary lang)

Complementing siya sa serenity ng lugar and I hope it stays that way pagbalik ko. :)
Far side: Reception area
Near side: The Bar
Sa tabing-dagat ng Uson Island facing the Coron town, uso ang jellyfish kung kaya't may signage doon na "Swim at your own risk". Ngunit huwag malungkot dahil mayroon namang swimming pool ang Dive Link. Chill lang sa pool while enjoying the breathtaking view. :)
The poolside. For kids and feeling kids of all ages.
Hungry but feeling lazy to go out of the island? Worry not dahil nandiyan ang Dive Link Restaurant to the rescue! Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or meryenda, meron sila niyan for you. :)
The Stairway to Yummy-ness ~ Dive Link Restaurant. :)
4. Other extreme amenities
Kayaking a day enlarges your biceps, okay? >.<
Trekking trail x.x-kilometers long. That's for you to find out. :)

But one tip, it is always better and cheaper to book ahead of time if you opt to avail your tours via 2nd party. Well, do-it-yourself will always be the cheapest option (but risky for first timers). ;)
Got no idea what to do?
Visit the restaurant and choose among the activities posted in the tarp.
Name your chosen activity to the receptionists and they'll help you out in no time. :)

~ The Restaurant ~
The table setting. Very neat. :)
Isa ang Filipino Breakfast and the other is the American Breakfast. Well, breakfasts are standard anywhere you go, pero ang nagpa-special ng breakfasts namin dito ay ang kasamang danggit kung pipiliin ang Filipino breakfast, at ang marmalade kung American naman ang pipiliin. Comes with a hot drink of your choice, brewed coffee or tea. :)
Filipino Breakfast 1:
Tocino w/ rice, egg and danggit
Served with vinegar ^_^
Filipino Breakfast 2:
Sweet Longganisa w/ rice, egg and danggit
Also served with vinegar ^_^
American Breakfast:
w/ 3 slices of white bread, butter and marmalade
Day 1 Yummy Dinner:
Fish in Tausi Sauce
Seafood Delight (w/ bestseller indicator)

~ Sample Room ~
Family Rooms by the shore.
Good for 2-4pax or kung bet niyo magsiksikan at papayagan naman kayo nina ate at kuya, kahit 6-8pax go lang. Depende sa makukuhang package kung may free breakfast or wala. Pero I suggest, dahil masarap naman ang food nila, avail the room with free breakfast option. :)
The bed.
In terms of facilities, ang edge ng room na ito over ours ay one, hindi ito nakadikit sa ibang room, solo lang siya. Another is that ang dingding niya ay mala-banig habang sementado ang sa amin. With that, I can say mas malamig dito kapag walang aircon. ^_^
CR, refrigerator and sink.
By the way, ang generator ng mga kwarto ay operational lamang from 5PM up to 9AM the next day. This is a good strategy in conserving energy, since nasa labas din naman ang mga guests between 9AM to 5PM. :)

~ Sunrise, Sunset ~
The View of Sunrise from the Bayabas rooms.
The breathtaking view of sunset.
Only at Dive Link Resort. ;)
Islands, limestones, corals and fishes, abangan si Teh! ^_^
